    Neurons can do much more than we give them credit for. By looking at the interaction of localized, long lasting and highly non-linear effects in dendrites, we try to show how a simple mechanism might allow individual spiking neurons to precisely recognize temporal sequences on the order of hundreds of milliseconds.
